John and Kate Rowles are friends of ours that we met through Kim Comfort during our time(s) in Newport, RI. They live in Vermont now, but we were able to convince them to come to visit us on Morpheus in order to sail to Swan’s Island and visit John’s long-time buddy Jerry.
Jerry moved full-time to Swan’s Island from Vermont just over a year ago and has quickly become an active participant in many of the island’s goings on. Jerry is a member of the restoration society for the Burnt Coat Harbor Lighthouse and organized a tour of the lighthouse tower for us.
We combined the tour of the lighthouse with a trip to the lobster pound where we purchased lobsters right off the boat for $6/lb. Lobsters in Newport are $35+ and I’m guessing close to $50 on the West Coast. We did well!!
