Closed for the Season

Well, the 2021 cruising season, such as it was, is done.

Highlights included

  • Winning our class at Block Island Race Week in June.
  • Visiting our new grandson Parker in August
  • Cruising Maine in late August/September
  • And, as always visiting friends in and around Newport.

Next steps for us include – Jim helping John Callahan deliver his boat to Miami once this epic nor’easter moves away from us, and Deb driving south already on her way to visit with our son Chris in Kentucky and then her sister in Ft. Myers, Florida.

I’m always amazed at the amount of time and the work involved with decommissioning Morpheus. Of course this is because we haven’t done it very often given our preference for warm temperatures!

For those that might be interested, this is what our decommissioning task list looked like. We started a week and a half ago and finished yesterday.

    1. Nothing special. Picked up whatever Home Depot was offering at the time. Lots and lots of those dehumidifier packages. They worked well last year. A real dehumidifier would work even better!!

  1. Jim That’s an amazing list! You could probably “sell” the list to other cruisers. Where are you going to spend most of the “off” season – can’t spend a lot of time in California! Dick

    1. Thanks, Dick. Our crazy plans continue to evolve. We purchased a car last week, Deb is actually in it now heading to Florida. I’ll sail there with John Callahan and then once she picks me up we plan to visit some friends in Miami before heading to Kentucky to see Chris and Tennesee for Thanksgiving with my friend Pops and his family. Then we drive to California for a family wedding in San Diego, and then…. Stand by will let you know when we figure that next step out!!! I’m sure it involves lots of visits with our new grandson Parker and another major home improvement project for me!!
