To me, Newport, R.I. is the center of the sailing universe. Certainly in the United States and perhaps globally. Palma, Majorca does give it a good run for the money!
Newport is a beautiful harbor filled with boats both old and new. Sailing friends from around the globe often surprise us with a visit when they show up for regattas and events.
Each summer evening one or more classes of sailboats are out for midweek race nights, followed by drinks and dinner at one of the many yacht clubs that surround the harbor.
So, when we are in Newport, one of our favorite spots to take it all in is sitting in one of the green adirondack chairs lined up at the top of the hill at NYYC’s Harbor Court!!
