End of the Road (sort of)

Twenty one days and ten cities later (Barcelona, Paris, Zurich, Zermatt, St Moritz, Salzburg, Venice, Florence, Rome, Athens), here we are back onboard Morpheus in Lavrio, Greece getting her ready for another season of sailing the Mediterranean.

We enjoyed the land based travel, and tried to visit places that we’d never get to via boat.  Other than a flight from Barcelona to Paris, the rest of our travels were done via a four country, 7 travel day Euro Rail Train Pass.  And, with exception of Rome, we used Airbnb to rent apartments in each of the town centers that we visited.  Airbnb was a big winner for us.  We traded traditional small and expensive european hotels for twice the space and half the cost!!

All of the places that we traveled to were great, but for me the train trips through the Alps in Switzerland and Austria were spectacular and my favorite segment of the trip.  My favorite spot was Zermatt.  How do you beat the Matterhorn??
