Deb and I have been joined by several friends from California to help us through the trip from the Caribbean to the Panama Canal and onwards. Below, is a guest post and several photos from Joe Hawkins. Deb leaves tomorrow and then we will leave St. Thomas for the Spanish Virgins, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Grand Cayman and Panama!!
And so it begins, like all great sporting events with a little pregame fun. Five days in Virgin Gorda’s North Sound, while an amazing spot, was a bit longer than we anticipated due in part to a punctured dinghy that required patch and cure time. But we got to watch the 49ers beat the Packers following our big bon voyage dinner at Saba before starting our sail westward, with one-day stops at Anegada and Jost Van Dyke – two favorite BVI destinations – before returning to the USVI, anchoring off Charlotte Amalie on St. Thomas. With Michelle flying out this afternoon and poor weather forecast for the next few days, we’ll be hunkering down here for a bit before heading west again
