Transpac onboard Pinball Wizard

I’ve just returned from a side trip to Hawaii!! Lucky me, I was invited to navigate Bill and Lisa Dana’s Santa Cruz 52 in this years Transpac!

Had a great time on a very unique Transpac. It was yet another in a long list of “the weather is not normally like this” events. I’m referring to it as the upside-down inside-out Transpac. Normally, the fastest route to Hawaii ends up heading well south to avoid the light airs normally associated with getting to close to the Pacific High. This year, the high was WAY WAY north and routing was along the rhumbline and then even North of rhumb for a long ways.

We didn’t win any big trophies this time. There has been a good deal of surgical enhancements to many of the near sisterships that we sailed against and they were simply faster than us from the start. We did have a good time, sailed the boat well, and had a good crew onboard. It was a fun time.

The video below gives you an idea of what it was like!!

Thanks again Bill & Lisa!!
